Music in Kindergarten! (A song you would have never guessed!)

So my favorite song to use in my classroom is one you may not think for a kindergarten classroom!  But it's true, my favorite song to use in class is Ain't No Mountain High Enough!  What a great message for kids to learn!  Believe it or not... they will be singing it on their own!  (And even at the end of the year, you can't not sing the song without a pretend microphone dancing all crazy!  Yes the kids think I am nuts!)

Another artist I love is Jim Gill!  His songs are shorter than some of the other artists for little learners!  That's probably my biggest pet peeve is songs that go on, and on, and on!  This is a play he actually does to his book called The Soup Opera!  I actually have my kids act out the story... we use props and costumes and they really get into it!  (It is a song if you just watch along!)

And one more artist I just found that I am excited to use this year is Debbie Clement!  Her songs are so bright and just scream sunshine!  I can't wait to sing this one with my kids!  Be sure to visit her blog Rainbow's Within Reach... she has so many fun things for her readers!

  4. Just finding the LUV! Did you realize that Jim Gill is the VERY inspiration for my creating my 'company' (of one) to go larking about the county-side? I hired him to come to the private school for children with special needs to give our staff a day of staff development. I laughed. I cried. I resigned from my full time administrative position and took my guitar on the road.

Not only is the man an incredible talent -- he has an amazing heart and spirit. He has been a shining star and I'm proud to claim him as my mentor!

Sending you LUV! and yet more!!!
