Free Student Data Book

Your students will learn so much in your class this year and it is extremely powerful to have them actually see that growth. And so here is a free student data book to help your students chart and measure what they learn.

THIS ACTIVITY WORKS WELL WITH

Help your students track their letter sounds and names with this free student data book from Simply Kinder.

One of the easiest measures to start with is letter names and sounds.  This chart will have your students coloring in the specific letters they know and then filling in the bar up as they know more and more!  We give you letter names (upper and lowercase) and letter sounds.

Help your students track how high they can count with this free student data book from Simply Kinder.

Another easy one to start with is counting.  I usually check this ever month and just ask the kids to rotely count as high as they can.  They track this number in their books by just coloring to that number.  To make it more fun, we do different colors every month.  This helps to see the growth overall.

Help your students track how many sight words they know with this free student data book from Simply Kinder.

Sight words are also another great data point to track.  Students will enjoy coloring up the bar and writing the words they know on the lines.  Or if you have a set group of words you need the kids to know by the end of the school year, you can pre-write those in and let the students highlight them as they show they know them.

Help your students track their phonemic segmentation progress with this free student data book from Simply Kinder.

And we, of course, track our reading indicators.  We start with phoneme segmentation.  I will write the date at the bottom, draw a line up to the number they are to color up to, and then let the students color the bar.

Help your students track their letter naming fluency progress with this free student data book from Simply Kinder.

The letter naming one we use all year long as students really become fluent in recalling letters fast.

Help your students track their nonsense word fluency progress with this free student data book from Simply Kinder.

And then about during the mid-year holiday we add in the nonsense words and track it the same way on this page.

So what happens if a child digresses?  Say they knew the letter m last week but this week they don’t.  That’s OK.  These books are not meant as teacher data collection so this will happen and that’s ok.  These books are meant to help the kids set goals, show progress, and celebrate!
