Friendship Videos for Kindergarten

The first thing that comes to mind about friendship is, “What is a friend?” These videos all have the same common theme about what makes a good friend.

This is a catchy little song about being a good friend. It goes through all the qualities of a friend in a repeating song way that kindergarteners are sure to remember!

This short video features Elmo and Rosita from Sesame Street talking about friendship! It’s a really cute way of them acting out being friends while also giving qualities of a good friend.

Friendship Soup builds a recipe for soup with all the different ingredients it takes to be a friend! It gives great examples and is so fun and colorful with real children speaking, so sure to hold the attention of the class.

Friendship Video Read-Aloud Books

There are so many great books about friendship, but there is not always time to buy and read them all. Here are a few great books that have been done as read-alouds so you can watch them as a video!

“The Little Book of Friendship” is read by a young child so it will feel really relatable to your students. It gives some great tips on how to make friends by introducing yourself and then shows some ways to be a great friend.

A lot of kindergarteners love dinosaurs! This book is so good! There are a lot of examples of things not to do as a friend, which some students might be experimenting with. Then the dinosaur becomes a very good friend with a bunch of ideas on what friends do to be nice.

“Meesha Makes Friends” is great for students who may be feeling a little different or left out. It talks about differences and how there is a friend for everyone. This one will be good to teach about showing empathy for others.
