Fun Facts About Groundhogs! (3:44)
WOW! This video is FULL of useful facts and great photos and videos! You will learn about how your teeth are like groundhogs, what they eat, and how they go to the bathroom. Kids will love this.
This video goes PERFECT with our Groundhog Nonfiction Reading and Writing Unit. This nonfiction unit contains a book that is available in full page (to use as a read aloud book) and a half page (to use as student copies.) Both are also in color and black and white. All of the photos used in the book are then used again for different writing activities. Your students will enjoy learning facts about these animals and having their very own the real pictures of the groundhogs.
-This video is of different groundhogs in their natural environments. Your students will love because it’s a close-up view! The video is set to music and contains no words.

Punxsutawney Phil Predicts Longer Winter (1:33)
Let your kids get a peek into the actual ceremony of this famous groundhog. This video is a quick peek at what happens that will excite your kiddos.
Peep and the Big Wide World: Bringing Spring (8:50)
Just going to be honest, this video is a little slow to watch but it does have educational value and so it is worth showing to your kids. But, it talks about shadows and the transition from winter to spring and so it does have value to show your kids.
We also love to write and our Groundhog Day Writing Activity is perfect for this day. Students plan a story and then write it. And then instead of drawing a picture, they get a cut-and-glue activity to glue onto the page. Kids will love writing the stories and teachers will appreciate the support the writers get (as well as the fact that it’s low-prep.)
