Teacher Blogger Meetup

I don’t know where to start or really what to say without throwing up all my excitement all over the place!  Bottom line – Vegas was a BLAST!  Everyone SHOULD go!  I have seriously not had so much fun since… well I can’t remember!

So here are some pictures and stories about my experiences for the 2013 SDE I Teach K Blogger Meet-up!

I have known Debbie Clement for 2 years now and I absolutely adore her.  She truly is my fairy blog-mother!  (The original fairy blog-mother!)  She watches out for me, teaches me, includes me, guides me, and is just a great friend!  I even wrote a grad school paper about her last year!  But I have never met her!  So this probably was the highlight of my trip.  It’s weird because you know all these people online but not in person and so you almost treat them like celebrities – overly excited to see them!
It was surely fun to give away my CD’s and meet so many of my readers!  OK – so when I first started as Empowering Little Learners I met this lady named Jillian.  She was like one of my very first followers.  We even became friends personally on Facebook just because we are so alike.  (Boy she is brilliant after talking with her!)  Anyways. This picture captures pretty much all the excitement we all felt so many times throughout our visit to Vegas!  When she walked up I was like… No… You’re here!!!!  And she was like Yes… I’m here!!!  It really was so much fun to get to meet her in person!  I truly love my readers and have SO much respect for you all!
It worked out we went to dinner together after the Blogger Meet-up.
Turns out… she met two ladies and was hanging out with them for the day.. and one of them says.. “I need to find Simply Kinder, I want a CD!”  And Jillian knew me!  LOL.  Callie and I really had a blast handing out our CD’s!  You all know me and my crazy antics!  And we love free stuff!
Next highlight would have to be getting to meet and talk with the new CEO of TeachersPayTeachers!  Seriously is this not an amazing picture?  John was so down-to-earth and friendly.  He thanked us!!!  Uh-no… thank you!!!  For me TeachersPayTeachers has allowed me to quit a district where I was ridiculously unhappy (with a HUGE pay cut!)  It also fills this void that I had to do more in the teaching community without having to leave the classroom!  I am SO appreciative of TpT!
My energy was just bubbling over the entire trip and this was no time to calm down!  The story behind this picture – John said to me, you have so much energy.  Well yes I do, we are in Vegas and we have to Woooo it up!  He said and I quote “I am not a woo-hoo-er!”  LOL… well when you are around me in Vegas you can’t help but Wooooo Hoooo!  LOL!  Between me and John is Amy – LOL… I love it!
This is Fran with Kindergarten Crayons.  I have known her for about 2 years. I feel so lucky that our paths randomly passed and I got to spend a bunch of time with her.  Let me tell you  – she KNOWS Common Core!  If you want to talk Common Core in the Classroom, Kindergarten Crayons is your blog to follow!  Personally – I got to tell her about my son and the many issues I have had with him in Kinder and my concerns about retaining him.  She is going to be who I call when I open my son’s report card from now on and want to cry.  Amazing, brilliant lady!
As a matter of fact, I got to meet all my Kinderland friends.  Kinderland is a group of pre-k to first bloggers who meets to collaborate about kinder topics.  You all know in your classroom that everything works together smoother when you work together.  Same with blogging.  Although we have our own individual blogs and styles, we meet online to make help lift each other up!  You really can’t do things alone and I am SO thankful to be a part of this amazing group of women!
I also got to meet some of my Freebielicious friends in person!   On the left is Hadar from Miss Kindergarten, (Me,) Crystal from Kreative in Kinder, and Kristin from A Teeny Tiny Teacher.  Again, amazing women who do nothing but uplift each other!  Boy we have some amazing things in the pipelines for you.. make sure you follow me there!
This lady… boy this was was one lucky lady!  So… we were walking through the shopping and me being me mentioned to someone that I was Jennifer from Simply Kinder.  All of a sudden she comes running from who knows where basicly screaming “Your Jennifer with Simply Kinder, I just bought your Educents deal and I love it!”  The Educents promotion was something I poured my heart and hours of time into for my blogging friends and so for her to connect me and that randomly was so exciting to me.  Not to mention she knew who I was and came running up to me in excitement!
Teaching In Blue JeansHer name is Amy and she also has a blog.  After poking around on it we figured out that she took the video of Debbie Clement’s 5 Little Piggies Rap that was all the talk because it was posted on YouTube!  I had heard her say she was looking for her so  I was SO EXCITED to be able to tell Debbie the lady who shot the video was amazing and nice and enthusiastic and a blogger!  So this lady… all in overhearing me say I was Jen with Simply Kinder was recognized by my Freebielicious girls, EDUCENTS (because of course I told them,) and the famous Debbie Clement!  Seriously one lucky lady!
And of course it would not be a trip to Vegas without a little love from Elvis!  He was a little touchy-touchy with more than just me!  So funny!

    OH.MY.WORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I seriously feel like a ROCK-STAR! BIGGER than ELVIS. Wasn’t the whole thing utterly amazing? I just kept looking at you across the table and pinching myself. The time went sooooooooooooo quickly and there were so few minutes for conversation, but just SEEING you and HUGGING and all the other nonsense was one highlight after the next.

Thanks for being ‘you.’ It really is something to celebrate when we can ‘be ourselves’ and find a place for that uniqueness in the world.

Made my journey complete, to connect in person!
