What You Will Find In The Mother’s Day Math Worksheets

1. Pattern Sequencing

Our first worksheet provides practice in pattern sequencing. Students must look at the patterns formed by Mother’s day gifts. Then work out what gift should go in the empty box. This is a cut-and-paste activity. Show students how to cut apart the pictures in the dotted boxes at the bottom of the sheet. Each image is used to complete a pattern. Just glue them into place.

Teacher tip: Children with the mathematical learning Dyscalculia will struggle to see patterns of any kind. If you have a student who has continued difficulty, they may need special help. Learn more here.

2. Count and Graph

The next worksheet is a count and graph activity. Students count the Various Mother’s Day gifts and color the graph squares in the right column for each one they count. Tell the students to cross out each gift as it is counted.

3 & 4 Color By Number

The third and fourth worksheets are color by number sheets. This is a fun way to practice number recognition and using a key. Kids seem to love these coloring sheets. They are an engaging way to practice number recognition, and kinders get pretty excited about finishing each picture. As an added bonus, students can cut out the finished picture and mount it on a cardstock card as a gift for mom.

Each child needs a copy of the coloring sheet and something to color with. I find that crayons and pencils work best. Direct them to color in the crayons in the key first of all. It shows them which colors they’ll need and what color is associated with each number. Students may find it helpful to only take out the colors they require.

Most children know how to use these pictures. Still, you can show them how to color in the picture one area at a time. Ask the children to say the number in each area out loud. Point them to the key and help them find the color associated with the number. Encourage kids to color the section carefully. This is one instance when it’s better to stay inside the lines!

Repeat the process one section at a time until you have colored the whole sheet. Kinders will then be able to discover the secret picture. Obviously, this is an activity that can take a while. Kids don’t have to finish the picture in one go unless they want to.
