Mother’s Day Spring Flower Craft for Kids

Surprise Mom this Mother’s Day with this adorable spring flower craft for kids. Follow these easy step-by-step directions to complete with your class!

Mother’s Day Spring Flower Craft

April showers bring May flowers, for Mother’s Day! Here’s a cute spring craft that kids can make in the classroom to show their moms, dads, or grandparents how much they care. These colorful flowers set on paper can also be added to the classroom bulletin board as spring decor.

Supplies

  • Construction Paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Straw
  • Pencil or Marker

Prep

Cut a circle from a piece of construction paper that measures about 2″ across. This will be used as the center of the flower. On this circle kids or an adult can write one thing the child thinks is special about their mom.

What I love about this activity is how sweet (and sometimes funny) the kids’ answers can be!

Print flower petals on construction paper using this flower petal template.

Activity

Cut the flower petals from the paper. Each flower needs about 6 petals. The petals can be all one color but should be different from the circle you’ll be using as the center of the flower.

Glue petals around the back of the flower. Make sure not to glue the petals on the side of the circle that has writing on it!

Now that the petals are attached to the center of the flower, the straw can be added as a flower stem. Glue or tape the straw to the back of the flower. I found it quicker to tape the straw because the glue takes a while to dry and the flowers can’t be picked up with the wet glue or the straws will fall off.

A DIY Gift for Mom

Moms love when their child presents them with a flower sharing what they think is special about them. What I think it even more important is the feeling each child gets when they’ve completed their flower. Making a homemade gift is an accomplishment and they’re very proud of what they’ve made for mom.
