So my favorite song to use in my classroom is one you may not think for a kindergarten classroom! But it’s true, my favorite music to use in class is Ain’t No Mountain High Enough! What a great message for kids to learn! Believe it or not… they will be singing it on their own! (And even at the end of the year, you can’t not sing the song without a pretend microphone dancing all crazy! Yes the kids think I am nuts!)
The next is Debbie Clement and You Are Wonderful! Her songs are so bright and just scream sunshine! I can’t wait to sing this one with my kids! Be sure to visit her blog Rainbow’s Within Reach… she has so many fun things for her readers!
Another must have song for kindergarten is the Banana Dance by Dr. Jean! She has tons of classic songs but this is one that every kindergarten classroom should do because it’s silly and fun just like kindergarten is supposed to be! It makes a great brain break or song to break up a transition!
Another artist I love is Jim Gill! This is a play he actually does to his book called The Soup Opera that is not a song, but a play that is actually simple enough for your students to do! I actually have my kids act out the story… we use props and costumes and they really get into it! (It is a song if you just watch along!)
