Pocket Chart Behavior Tracking – Bright Ideas Hop

I have searched high, I have searched low, but the perfect way to track behavior in my class always seems to be on my mind!
I am not a fan of the traditional card systems.  IDK… I tried it one year where they turned their cards to the back but I never really felt as if the kids got the meanings of the colors.  So then I moved to the clip system which worked great.  I liked how they would see their behavior being lifted up or moved down… until one year I could not seem to purchase go sturdy set of clothes pins!
So I thought to myself… why don’t they just sell a clip chart that’s a pocket chart!
And dun-dun-dun-dun…
I love this system for so many reasons!
                       – The kids can move their cards up and down.
                       – The students name cards can change with the season.
                       – I can alter what each section says to fit the needs of my students (which I have done.)
So I made it using the pocket charts from the Dollar Spot that I have saved up over the years.  I don’t know about you… but I CANNOT pass up a pocket chart for a dollar.  At some point I am sure I will need it!
To make it… just trim the sections to be the right size for your (I did not want a huge section for the lower parts because I want to discourage this happening), apply hot glue, and press together!
And there you have it!  An amazing little DIY management system for your class!
And if you really think about it… there are so many different ways to use these fun DIY charts… reading groups, centers, and really anything you normally color code!
I always feel like my ideas are so silly and small… hopefully it’s something you can use!

Did you cut each chart before you glued them together? I have all of the colors but red. I can’t find a red one anywhere.

I’ve also used cards and clips. This is the best of both worlds!

This is a great idea!! I hate the clothespins because they are always breaking and I love that I can see the names from farther away. Thanks for sharing. I would love to know where you got your rules also. Thank you!

I would also like to know where you got your rules. I LOVE this idea 🙂 Also, did you buy a black pocket chart, or did you have to color it some way?
