How to Make Pumpkin Pie in a Cup:

First: Gather All Your Ingredients

For each child you will need:

  • Plastic cup (or small bowl, jar, etc.)
  • Spoon
  • 2 Graham Crackers
  • 1 Vanilla Pudding Cup
  • 2 Large Spoonfuls of Pumpkin Pie
*Pro Tip: Make sure to get the pumpkin pie mix, and not pure pumpkin! It tastes much better!
  • A Squirt of Whipped Cream (or dollop of cool-whip)
  • Small Sprinkle of Cinnamon

Next: Follow all the Directions

Make sure to grab the freebie at the bottom so each student can have a copy of the easy-to-follow directions!

  1. Put two graham crackers in a baggie and crush them up.
  2. Put the graham crumbs in the bottom of the cup.
  3. Spoon the vanilla pudding cup onto the crumbs.
  4. Add two large spoonfuls of pumpkin pie mix on top of the pudding, and smooth.
  5. The fun part: add a squirt of whipped cream! (Be sure to watch for students tempted to squirt it right into their mouths haha.)
  6. Sprinkle just a little bit of cinnamon on top.
  7. Enjoy!

The Taste Test

Now that your students have all made their own mini pumpkin pie in a cup, they get to gobble them up! Yummy! Here is where you can turn it into an educational STEM activity! There are two differentiated options for a Five Senses printable for students to complete. One where they fill in the answers themselves, and the other where they can circle the choice that fits best.

Be sure to talk about what each of the five senses is and how we can use them! Tell your students they can use all these senses on their entire Thanksgiving dinner and report back to you on what looks best, smells nice, feels cool, sounds interesting, and tastes yummy! This Thanksgiving Reflection Activity would be a great way to talk about it!
