Rainbow Fish Paper Plate Craft

Rainbow Fish Paper Plate Craft

I really love this Rainbow Fish Paper Plate Craft. The Rainbow Fish series of books are some of my favorites to read in Kinder and I find that they are a great way of starting a great discussion about friendship and sharing. Every year these books are one of the most requested by my class and we love extending our learning with some fun art and craft activities to go with it.

While there are a lot of different ways to make this Rainbow Fish, I prefer to use finger painting for our method as it avoids the time consuming task of cutting out all of the scales! It’s also another very cheap craft activity. I used our class paints and scrap paper for the fins, meaning that I spent less than $4 on the rest of the materials for a class of 25.

The children also have a lot of fun getting a little bit messy and being creative with their color choices.  Each fish ends up looking different which is a great discussion point. If you have the space, these look fabulous as a large bulletin board display too!
