St. Patrick’s Day Books for Kindergarten

I’m a Leprechaun (Little Golden Book) is probably one of my favorite St. Patrick’s Day books for kindergarten! It has easy to read sentences and great images. This is a fun book for the start of the week if you are going to talk about St. Patrick’s Day as a theme.

Pete the Cat: The Great Leprechaun Chase is a fun book about friendship. Pete opens up a booth for his friends who need luck to get a leprechaun. But when he catches a leprechaun to share with his friends, he learns that friendship is all you need – not luck.

I always love this series of books and The Night Before St. Patrick’s Day is no exception. This story goes through catching a leprechaun and some of the mess and mischief the leprechaun creates. Super fun and your students will love it.

Love this book as well! This book is fun if you are doing Leprechaun traps (click here for some instructions and a free printable). This is a rhyming book and your students will love the crazy the antics of the leprechaun, for sure.

More Read-Aloud Books

Pout-Pout Fish – Lucky Leprechaun is a fun story about friendship. So – this book is not by the same author who does the Pout-Pout books and seems a smidge different in the rhyming. But, it is a fun story and is great for your themed library in your classroom (but it does not always make my read aloud list).

I picked up Liam the Farting Leprechaun because it was by Humor Heals Us and it just seemed like kindergarteners would love it. I personally don’t like bathroom talk, but kids do love farts and this is a cute story haha.

Are you wanting to grow shamrocks? This is a fun story about a a rabbit who is growing shamrocks in a gold pot. This pot goes missing so he has to go searching for them. This is a fun story your students will love.

Ten Lucky Leprechauns is a fun counting book that is full of rhymes and crazy leprechaun antics. Your students will love this in their library or during a math lesson.

There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Clover is a classic “There Was an Old Lady” story. This story is filled with themed items for St. Patrick’s Day and Spring and at the end a rainbow comes out. This is great for retelling for sure.
