One of our teacher friends, Elizabeth, in the Simply Kinder Facebook group, shared this adorable student drawn necklace. We loved the idea, so we wanted to share how she made them in case you want to make one of your own. It’s a great keepsake for a special year or a great gift for someone you want to appreciate.
The supplies you will need:
- 8″ x 10″ clear shrinky drinks plastic sheets (can be found at Michaels or HobbyLobby or here on (affiliate) Amazon)
- colorful sharpies
- scissors
- hole punch
- 2 long necklace chains are found in the jewelry section (can be found at Michaels or HobbyLobby)
Cut the shrinky dink plastic into 3 to 4-inch squares. Let the students draw a picture on the plastic using sharpies. After they’re done, trim around the pictures or round the corners so they won’t be sharp. Use a hole punch to make a hole in the plastic. Bake using the direction in the shrink dink package. Attach your beautiful student creations to the necklace and you are done!
The students love seeing their art so tiny! You can even keep a list of which student drew which picture so you can look back on it in years to come. Such a fun and special keepsake to always have! Ms. Smith also loved this necklace and so we made a version with her own children’s drawings that is also amazing! You can see how this could be a perfect teacher’s aide, student teacher, or volunteer gift. Click here to join the conversation in our Teacher Facebook Group with Ms. Smith.
