Helping your students to remember what exactly they learned during the day can be a tricky task. So I made this fun little What Stuck With You Today chart to guide our discussions at the end of the day!
I made it completely by hand. Here’s what I did:
- Laid out all of the Post-It Notes – figuring I would adjust the title to the space I had leftover.
- I numbered my sticky notes to help me see quickly “Oh #4 did not put up what stuck with her today.” You could also easily write student names on them after you laminate the poster (so year after year you can use a magic eraser and write the new kiddos names.) Kinders might also need their names too depending on the class!
- I decided to use sticky notes to put the word STUCK to tie the colors together. I also liked the yellow post-it notes but did not want them to be the main color of the chart so I felt this was a good way to stay true to classic stickies!
- I cut out the letters by hand. Yes, sometimes having things imperfect makes them look perfect! To make sure they were all about the same size I cut similar sized strips of paper and then put the letters within there.
- Glued it all down and laminated it.
It took me about 25 minutes to make the whole chart and now at the end of the day, we can stop and reflect on what we all learned!
I love that this chart gives students accountability during our end of day reflection and it reminds them of everything we learned so as we walk out MAYBE they will remember what to say to their parents. (Emphasis on the maybe.) We all know that is one of the 10 Truths About Teaching Kindergarten!
Charts like these are also great for a quick review in the morning – “remember yesterday we learned about the letter F, the word the, and all about apples.”
