Our neighborhood has really come together to do lots of fun things for the kids we live near. One thing we have LOVED is the painted rocks and you know teachers – the brain never shuts off. So we combined painted rocks with the Write the Room activities so many of our students know and love. That’s right, this is your Write the Neighborhood Freebie.
We painted some rocks just solid color acrylic paint and then used a market to write things we wanted to practice. We hid the rocks around the park close to our house. We placed them in the rocks only, near the edge so kids can see them without having to climb through the plants.
The concept is just like in the classroom – find the number and write what is said on the number. You can do all sorts of concepts: sight words, decodable words, addition, subtraction, and so much more.
And we made this freebie for all the kids to write the neighborhood. Is it necessary? No but may be something the kids are used to doing in class and might enjoy. Click here to download this freebie.
If you set this up in your neighborhood, be sure to share with others so they can also play too. Stay well friends.
