Johnny Appleseed
You don’t think about apples without thinking about Johnny Appleseed. Spend some time learning more about Johhny Chapman with Simply Kinder’s informative easy reader found HERE. Apple Tree Balance & Count Activity
This challenge activity will strengthen teamwork and counting skills. You will need one paper towel roll, green popsicle sticks for tree branches, and red pom-poms for apples. Students will work in partner sets or small groups to add as many apples as they can to their apple tree. Set a 3-minute timer while students work together to balance apples on their tree. Students will count their total once the timer ends. Adjust the time limit and set an apple goal for an added challenge.

Apple Pie in a Cup
You can’t learn about apples without enjoying an apple treat! This easy-to-make apple dessert will provide a hands-on experience for students. You will need graham crackers, apple pie filling, whipped topping, and cinnamon. Students will crush their graham crackers in a plastic bag and add them to the bottom of a plastic cup. Add apple pie filling on top of the graham crackers, top with whipped topping, and a sprinkle of cinnamon. Compose a class “how-to” writing piece on the steps needed to create apple pie in a cup.

Apple Name Craft
An adorable name craft will make the most a-peel-ing bulletin display for your hallway or classroom. Apple Science
Looking to incorporate science into all the apple fun? Students will predict what will happen to an apple when left plain and in lemon juice. Cut an apple in half. Place one half in lemon juice and leave one plain. Wait an hour to examine each half. Students will compare each half and record their observations & results.
