• Valentine Monster Counting Strip Puzzles (click on the button below to download and print)
• Paper or Card Stock
• Laminator and Laminating Pouches (optional)
To prepare this Valentine’s Day themed math activity, print the strip puzzles on white paper or card stock. You may also want to laminate them for extra durability and to reuse the puzzles every year. Next, cut all of the puzzle pieces apart. You can store each one in an envelope, plastic bag, or pencil pouch.
To begin this math center activity, your students will select a puzzle and put the pieces in numerical order. As they put the puzzle together, your students will practice counting by one’s and number sequence by arranging numbers in ascending order. There are ten puzzles and each puzzle has ten pieces so your students can count from 1 to 100 in intervals of 10. When they put the puzzle together correctly, they will form a picture of a Valentine Monster and each puzzle has a different picture.
Your students can work with a partner to complete all ten puzzles during your math centers. This is a great independent activity for early finishers too. If you have guided math time, you can also use these counting strip puzzles and work with your students haven’t learned to count to 100 yet.
These Valentine Monster Counting Strip Puzzles are a fun, Valentine’s Day themed math center activity for February and an interactive way for your students to practice counting to 100.
