Support Reading Comprehension
Take a deeper dive into your read aloud through reading comprehension activities that will strengthen students’ understanding of the text. Target comprehension through story retelling, sequencing, and read & respond activities.
- Story Retelling Mat – Student will use a story retelling mat and story props & characters that have been attached to popsicle sticks to retell the story. This activity makes a great literacy center option. Students can also create their own retelling mat with a cut & paste option for a differentiated twist on this activity.
- Sequence of Events – Help your students identify the sequence of events using story sequence cards. This makes a great whole group activity using a pocket chart to display the events in order. There are smaller cards if you wish to do this with small groups of students. Students can practice sequencing events independently using a story sequencing hat or various cut & paste sequencing options.
- Read & Respond Sheets – Choose from a variety of read & respond sheets to fit the needs of your students. Students can identify story elements, write about their favorite part of the story, and respond to writing prompts.

Math Activities
Math isn’t left out in the cold! Incorporate Sneezy themed math centers and printables into your day.
- Sneezy the Snowman Addition – Build addition fluency with clip wheels. Students place a small clip on facts that match the targeted sum.
- Sneezy the Snowman Number Center – Students will practice representing numbers in different formats with this number sorting center.
- Math Printables – Practice addition, subtraction, counting, and place value with math printables. These are a great print & go option for centers, homework, and independent work.

Literacy Activities
Reading comprehension activities aren’t the only literacy resources you will find in this book companion. Check out these activities that focus on phonics.
- Spin & Rhyme – Students practice rhyming with CVC words in this fun partner game. Each partner spins the spinner and covers a picture on their card that rhymes with the picture on the spinner.
- Picture Puzzles – Students build a puzzle of Sneezy by matching CVC words to the correct picture. This is a great center idea with multiple puzzles to choose from!
- Literacy Printables – Practice letter formation and reading & spelling CVC words with no-prep literacy options.

Sneezy the Snowman Crafts
Turn your bulletin display into a winter wonderland with one of these Sneezy the Snowman crafts.

- Sneezy the Snowman Craft – Use a snowman template and add clothing options to keep Sneezy warm.
- Sneezy Story Topper – Compliment winter writing with a Sneezy the Snowman story topper. Differentiate writing with story paper options and writing tasks.

Sneezy the Snowman Snack Idea
Sneezy has melted and it’s up to your students to get him back together so they can enjoy a yummy treat. Provide students a Ziploc bag with the pieces they need to rebuild Sneezy. Each student will need 2 powdered sugar donuts, 6 – 7 chocolate chips, and an orange M&M or Skittle to create their Sneezy the Snowman snack.
