This activity pairs well with these Simply Kinder Resources:
Preparing for a Student Stocking Exchange
Start by sending home Simply Kinder’s FREE editable stocking exchange letter with students. Include a date for students to return stockings and stocking stuffers. Let parents know the amount of stocking stuffers to provide as well.
Students will need stocking and stocking stuffers for this activity. This activity does not have to cost much money. Students can bring in an old stocking or an affordable option from the Dollar Store. You can also provide stockings for each student and decorate them as a class activity.
You will need clips or hooks and classroom space to hang the stockings. Wooden clothespins or binder clips work well to hang the stockings. Stockings can be hung on a whiteboard ledge or another suitable space in your classroom.
Filling the Stockings
Students will send in small items to fill their classmates’ stockings. Some ideas are included in the letter and below. Students can also include handmade items for a cost-saving option.
- Party Favors
- Little Debbie Cakes
- Mini Erasers
You can have students pass out their stocking stuffers as they bring them to school or save them and include them as part of your holiday party. Excitement will fill the air as students gift their classmates.
Stocking Exchange Reveal
Students can empty and explore their stocking goodies during your classroom party. Prepare for lots of excitement as students check out the gifts from their classmates. Students will take their stockings and gifts home before winter break.
