Such a great story that really gets the kids thinking about friendship and caring and using their imaginations in a different way! So I wanted to share this fun little project with you we did!
Our story was filled with rich conversations about friendship, kindness, caring, and of course aging. We focused on using the cues the story has to draw conclusions about things happening. We also really stretched our imaginations to think about how exactly things in the world help us… after all ‘she’ is not just a tree!
We started by ripping one long paper and placing it on the side.
Next we went along the top to make the overhead branches.
We added the title of the book and tissue paper for the leaves.
We added a picture of ourselves looking up admiring the tree and lastly a little heart on the trunk showing we love her.
And there you have it! Kids really had a great time talking about what they were admiring about her (of course followed up by some journaling on the topic!)
I was really excited to send these home because this story has been around since before I was born so I know many of my parents will enjoy seeing these!
Also.. if you have not heard… it’s sale time again!
Great time to stock up for the this last little stretch of the year or for next year!
Here’s what will be being used in my classroom:
