As a teacher, it is so important to find exciting ways to have your students practice the same old skills and the holiday season has many fun opportunities to do this! So here’s the center your students are sure to love – decorating a tree with sight word ornaments and then recording the words they put with a free sight word ornament center printable to help your students record words they used!
I started by picking up some cheap plastic solid color ornaments. I did a medium size but my tree is a large tabletop tree but if you are using a big tree you might want regular-sized ornaments. I also ordered some foam alphabet stickers so that the words popped and that they had some dimension. You could easily just write the letters onto the ornaments with a marker though too. Funny story about those alphabet letters – I had to sort them before I could make my ornaments. The teacher OCD in me just could not let it go.

So I picked out some words that would be good to practice. I actually did both sight words and CVC words too just to really target the practice for the students.
The students decorate the tree and then record their answers on one of these two Ornament Word Printable Activity Printables.
Seriously so much fun! Your students are sure to love this center!
And because the teachers of Simply Kind can do things better than me, I wanted to share this amazing tree from Ms. Hale… She shared these photos on our Facebook page here.
