Pumpkin Books To Read Aloud
Let us start with three of my favorite pumpkin books. These are great to read with Kinders.
The Biggest Pumpkin Ever
One of my favorite childhood Halloween stories, this classic tale is about two mice who want to grow the biggest pumpkin of all. The cute illustrations add to the appeal. Kids love watching the pumpkin grow bigger and bigger. Then there are the mice on their motorcycles. Everyone loves those mice and their motorcycles! The best part is seeing how the mice work together to achieve their goals.
How Many Seeds in a Pumpkin?
A great story to read aloud with lots of math! It’s all about counting seeds. Probably more suited for older grades, but my students enjoyed the parts that did apply to their counting skills! We laughed and were awed about how many different ways we could count seeds!
How Big Could Your Pumpkin Grow?
Another great story loaded with math terms for size. Great for vocabulary and ideas for writing! “Could the most colossal pumpkin fill the Grand Canyon?” This book sparked some conversations that got the kids thinking about size!
Pumpkin Videos
Videos are always great for a quick brain break. If you are teaching about pumpkins, this list of teacher-approved pumpkin videos is a goldmine. It includes videos with loads of information about pumpkins. But there are also pumpkin rhymes and stories your students will love.
