Kindergarten Activities with Bubble Pops:

1) Sight words:

alphabet bubble pop

Use an alphabet one (either pre-written or write your own with a permanent marker) and have students pop out sight words!

TEACHER TIP: Use a spray of varnish like this one to help the permanent marker stay in place and not rub off on hands.

Beginning or Ending Sound Hunt

Use the same alphabet ones to identify the beginning or ending sound in words or objects around the room!

  • Pair students up
  • Give them an alphabet bubble pop
  • Walk around the room safely
  • Find one thing around the room that starts with or ends with the sound an pop that letter
  • Try to find one thing for every letter

Differentiation options: ending sounds, spell the word, pop the syllables..and so many more!

Or use printed pictures of your own or grab these:

3) Use sound boxes

Using the same printed picture as above have students pop out the sounds and then write them into sound boxes. Grab a free printable soundbox template here!

This keyboard Bubble Pop is also fantastic for practicing sounds, letters, spelling, and sight words!

Bubble Pop Math Activities:

4) Math games

number bubble pop

-Pair students up! Roll a die and pop that many. Whoever pops all of theirs first is the winner.

-Or pair students up and have them roll two dice. Then add to two numbers on a hundred chart Bubble Pop like this one. Or even subtract if you’re students are ready!

-Identify even/odd numbers! Call out a number and have students pop that many (two at a time is great for students to practice) and then identify if a number is even or odd!

5) CVC game (word unscramble)

A super fun game to challenge students is to use the alphabet bubble pop to play unscramble the word!

-Pair students up

-Based on needs either provide pictures of CVC/CVCe words, written CVC/CVCe words, or even sight words

-Students pop the letter without showing their partner

-The partner has to unscramble the letters and guess the word

Providing a whiteboard is great to help students during this activity
