One of my favorite things about the winter is hot cocoa. It is seriously the best and always enjoyed. I thought I would tap into my love for this wintertime treat and make these Initial Sounds Hot Cocoa Puzzles for you and your students to enjoy. I have no doubt that they will be loving this literacy center and also have no idea that they are even learning. That is honestly the best thing ever when that happens.
Initial Sounds Hot Cocoa Puzzles contains 26 different puzzles for your students to put together for each letter of the alphabet. It is recommended that you print on cardstock and laminate it so you can use it for years to come.

Doing Initial Sounds Hot Cocoa Puzzles
Each puzzle has two pieces, one with a letter and one with a picture that starts with that letter. Students will first grab a letter card and say the letter.
Then they will sort through the puzzle pieces and find the picture that starts with the corresponding letter.
If your students have the space, they can set all of the letter puzzle pieces out at once, and then the students at the center will find the missing puzzle pieces. This would also be a great way to do this activity as an entire class.
If you are working with younger students, or even struggling students, place only a handful of letter puzzles in the center. This will allow students to get comfortable with the center and master the ones they are given. Then you can slowly add in more until all the letter puzzles are included. At the end of the day, we want our students to be successful. It is important to make sure that we do not set them up for failure with learning activities such as this one.
