Bulletin Board or Wall Display

A bulletin board or wall space make ideal spots to place a sound wall. Grab some colorful fade resistant paper and fun border or fabric to create a frame for a sound wall. Place the consonant sounds and vowel valley beside each other horizontally or arrange them vertically. Be sure to pick a space that is visible and easily accessible to all students.

Pocket Chart

A large pocket chart will work well to display sound wall cards. Use hooks to hang the pocket chart on a wall or the whiteboard. Space can be limited, and you may not be able to hang items on the wall so get creative and use a double-sided pocket chart on a rolling laundry cart.

Tri-Fold Display Boards

Need a more portable option for your sound wall? A tri-fold display board works wonderfully for displaying a sound wall and is best if space is limited in your classroom. The best part is that a tri-fold display can easily be moved around the classroom. Display it during whole group instruction, situate it at your small group area, and place in centers for easy interaction.

Cabinet Space

Utilize cabinets to display a sound wall. Use large wardrobe cabinets or spread sounds out over a row of smaller cabinets. You can shrink sounds cards and pictures when printing them if cabinet space is limited. This idea is an ideal alternative if gluing or taping to walls isn’t an option in your classroom.

Personal Sound Walls

A personal sound wall is an excellent way to get a sound wall in the hands of your students. We suggest providing a personal sound wall in addition to having a sound wall display in your classroom. Encourage students to locate sounds on their personal sound wall as you unlock new sounds and review previously learned sounds. Students can reference their personal sound wall during independent reading and writing. Grab your FREE personal sound wall from Simply Kinder + HERE!
